Sapphire: Etymology: from greek sappheiros = azure blue.
Saphir (French), Saphir (German), Zafiro (Spanish), Zaffiro (Italian).
The Sapphire exists in all colours.
The Sapphire is the non-red of corundum. The red variety of corundum is Ruby.
The Ruby is one of the four gemstones called precious stones: Diamond, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire.
