Pyrite

  • Synonym : Alpine Diamond, Brass Balls, Copperas Stone, Iron Pyrites, Kaltschedan, Lebereisener, Mundic, Sideropyrite, Svovl Kis, Vitriolkies, Xanthopyrites.
  • Etymology : From Greek " purites lithographs " = stone of fire; because of the sparks which it produces under the shocks.

The pyrite is a very common mineral. Iit is present in many rocks, so sedimentary as in metamorphic rocks.

The pyrite is nicknamed " the gold of the crazy " because of its golden color.

Some pieces of pyrite faceted were faceted for the collectors.
