Jade

Jade
  • Translations : Jado, Giok, Giada, Jed, Zad, Yeşim, Жад, Нефрит, हरिताश्म, 翡翠, ヒスイ, 玉石, یشم, ירקן
  • Etymology : From the Spanish "Piedra de jada" = stone against kidney pain.

Under the name of Jade correspond mainly two families of gems: the nephrite jade
(amphibole) and jadeite (pyroxene). Jadeite is the most popular of the two varieties.

Since the Neolithic era, we find objects fashioned in Jade.

For 3000 years before our era, jade has been used in China. They are found in graves where he was supposed to keep the body after death.
In Central America, the Olmec, Mayan, Toltec and Aztec civilizations used Jade to make masks and other objects (pre-Columbian civilizations, from 1200 BC until the 13th century).

The symbolism of jade:
Traditionally, jade is the most revered stone in Asia and specifically in China. We believe in the multiple virtues of jade: happiness, serenity, wisdom.

Jade is best known in its green colour, but it also exists in yellow jade, brown jade, purple jade, white jade...

The largest quantities of Jade Jadeite come from Myanmar (Burma). But other deposits exist throughout the world, as for the photographs we present. They are Russian jades from the Lake Baikal region.

The price of jade:
The vast majority of jade for sale is not. It is often found under the name of "Chinese jade". In reality it is serpentine.

To get real jade, you have to put a price on it. See below the prices of high jewellery pieces sold in high jewellery sales... for example $2.76 million for a bracelet
