Hemimorphite

  • Etymology : From the Greek "hemi" = half and "morphos" = form.
  • Discovery: 1853 by Kenngott.
  • Type localityBăiţa Mining District (Baita Bihor; Rézbánya), Nucet, Bihor Co., Romania

Hemimorphite presents the phenomena of luminescence, fluorescence, triboluminescence, piezoelectricity and pyroelectricity.
