Diamond (pink)

Diamond (pink)
  • Etymology : From Greek "adamas" = Invincibility. The name diamond was used for the first time by Pline 100 BC.

The pink color of the diamond is one of more wanted on the market. Its is due to a deformation in the crystalline structure: we call it a plastic deformation.

The mine of Argyle in Australia is the one which produces the main part of the world stock of diamonds champagne, pink and red. Their production is so big and varied that they even created their own scale of classification of the color, specially for the variety red-pink-brown of the diamond and to facilitate so the sale of their stones. It is called the scale of Argyle.

The pink diamond, thanks to its rarity and to a latest fad, became one of the most expensive diamonds.
