The diamond Beau Sancy or little Sancy
This diamond is a white pear-shaped diamond of 34.98 carats.
He had been offered by Henri IV to his wife Marie de Medici at the time of his coronation on 13 May 1610. He bought it in 1604 (for the sum of 7,500 livres).
This diamond adorned the crown of Mary of Medici.
After the assassination of Henry IV by Ravaillac, his son Louis XIII ascended the throne. Marie de Médicis will break up with her son and go into exile in the Netherlands.
In debt, she sold the diamond "Beau Sancy" to Prince Frédéric Henri of Orange Nassau in 1641. Then the diamond was offered to Marie Henriette Stuart for her marriage to Guillaume, son of Frederic.
At the death of her husband, she returned to England and put the diamond as a pledge to pay her debts. A grandson of Frederick entered the throne of England in 1669 under the name of William III.
He inherits the diamond and offers as a wedding gift to his wife, Queen Mary II. They will have no children. Another little son of Frederic Henry of Orange Nassau will receive the diamond: Frederick III, Princ Elector of Brandenbourg.
The diamond reaches the house of Prussia. Fredric III became King of Prussia in 1701 under the name of Frederick the First. He agrees to give up his share on the Orange House in exchange for this diamond
The diamond "Le Beau Sancy" became the most beautiful stone in the Prussian treasure.
