The September birthstone: the sapphire

For each month there is a gemstone called birthstone. For September the birthstone is the sapphire.

The sapphire exists in all the colors of the rainbow.

The sapphire is one of the four precious gemstones as diamond, ruby sapphire and emerald.

As ruby, the sapphire belongs to the corundum family.

The most famous blue sapphires are coming from Kashmir, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. But they are also huge sapphires in other countries as Madagascar.

The rarest sapphires is the Padparadscha sapphire, from Sri Lanka.
